How to obtain the Saudi Quality Mark (SQM) license?

The Saudi Quality Mark (SQM) is a high-level conformity mark specified for a number of high-risk products that need to be subjected to special tests as these products might cause huge harm to the consumer or environment if they are not manufactured according to the relevant quality and safety standard and technical regulations.

The Saudi Quality Mark (SQM) granting system is aligned with the international standard (ISO/IEC 17065), in addition, the Saudi Standards, metrology, and quality Organization Department for the Saudi Quality Mark obtained International Accreditation from the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC), in accordance with the (ISO IEC 17065 2012) requirements.

The Saudi Quality Mark granting process

The Saudi Standards, metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) is the national authority responsible for setting the procedures and requirements of the granting Saudi Quality Mark (SQM) license.

SASO authorizes notified bodies around the world to carry out the conformity assessment for granting the Quality Mark.

The beneficiaries must initiate a request to obtain the Saudi Quality Mark license, and then comes the rule of the notified body (NB) authorized by SASO to validate the request.

The notified body takes the responsibility for studying the technical file submitted by the beneficiary and review the documents and data, initiate the required factory visits, then submit the recommendation decision to the authority.

After the notified body recommends granting the Saudi Quality Mark license, the authority issue the granting decision when the file is found conform to the Quality mark requirements.
